I disagree because all the cooler shit happened between 500 and 800 AD. Vikings, Roman displacement, proto-gun/cannon combat are all cool but get overshadowed by the medieval artistry and aesthetic of later years.

I don't like the vikings themselves but I love the wars they were in. Lot's of cool history.
