I dont want to get into a discussion about its political correctness, I just dont want to relive my traumas every time someone wants to put someone down by comparing their intellectual capability with intellectual disabilities, insinuating the disabled should be looked down on. Cmon, this is an authors forum, we can be more creative than outdated medical terms.

If you use "retardation" as an insult or a label to denigrate another person, you are not using the definition of "slowing the progress of something", you are using it in the sense of "those with lesser intellectual capability are inferior". It attacks innocent disabled people by lumping them with unwanted. Uncool, dont do that.

Im against the term because there more clever words you could use, and it unfairly lumps in people like myself or my sibling or many others I know and love under the banner of "too stupid to be allowed in proper society" which is ableism, and i hate it when people act out ableist ideas like bringing the fucking r slur back bc you want to be disingenuiously edgy with plausible deniability.

Like let's be real, the only reason you are using the word is because it gets a reaction out of people like me. Meanwhile, I dont use the word because it has fucking killed people I've known. Dont be an insensitive jerk, and maybe respect the person's wishes who's page youre on. And maybe we could all do with being kinder and calling each other fewer names.
