Exactly. I don’t get the tirade, when in under a week we got hundreds of mods already dropped on the game. And I don’t even play it as I dislike the genre.

Then what is this whole thing about? Since it looks like it is doing fine on the mods then.

Unless they are not improving gameplay itself. Which I doubt so with that many. :blob_hmm:

As for GOTY contenders, there was also KCD 2, MH Wilds, Doom. Rise of the Ronin and Khazan came out, but they are a tier lower.

Val, you are over analyzing a comment that calls modders weak. It is probably just a dev joke. Of course, people will want to do clothing mods as soon as the gooners see the MC. Hence they are weak for falling prey to their ape minds.

Eh, I didn't really vibe with MH Wilds. I got the game, and I got buyers remorse with it.

Yeah, I think you’re right.

As for Wilds? It is an okay game, but I don’t think it does anything near enough to be GOTY.

Plus, I think it is still really broken on PC on top of that. From what I saw from the console?

When it actually works? Just kinda average ya know.

Its nothing. Major mods that touch in-game systems need time to cook. People need to understand the game and its quirks, engine, scripts, etc, before begining to mod it for good. The first mods are always cosmetics as that is the easiest to do and then come the model replacers and then come the stuff that adds and builds on what is already there.

And it needs an SDK support from the devs too. I dunno if that was ever released or not. Or what the limitations are and what needs to be reverse enginered or what modding tools needs to be made to be able to implement the changes.

Well as mh fan I can only say that mh tends to be either about combat or worldbuilding, mh wilds is on the level of mh world when it comes to worldbuilding which is basically the best modern biology worldbuilding I would know of.

Combat wise is it some of the fast paced it has ever been which is for many a good thing because the slower combat was less popular. That's honestly as much as mh really has to offer as whole, nobody should buy mh because of expectations of a amazing story.

The main problem is the challenge. MH pretty much lacks this now. I mean, if I can pick up the controller after not playing for a while.

And run circles around supposedly high ranking monsters after a couple of minutes of getting back into it.

Before, the games used to offer proper difficulty. I used to actually struggle with the early ones, but still managed to beat them,

The more modern ones I am distracted half the time and still win.

I doubt anyone plays MH for the story, so it has to entirely carry on the gameplay. And the gameplay?

Sure, faster, but the difficulty progression is just gone.

I'm not yet diagnosed and I can agree, but thats what self imposed restrictions are there for.
Valmond

That’s the thing, the game is supposed to challenge you. Not the other way around. Sure, you can do self imposed challenges.

Though, that shows a failing on the game itself. For the longest while, I didn’t use like half the features. Hell, didn’t really do too much upgrades since it wasn’t particularly necessary.
Valmond

MH has only one thing going for it. And that is the gameplay. It doesn’t have a good story, its environments are kinda mid.

A lot of the features don’t really incentivize using them.
Valmond

So, with everything weighing on the gameplay. It means it has to over perform a lot in that one area. Which it kinda just is so-so.
