@Pujimaki I've read some romance manhwa, but the regular modern setting ones. They can be pretty good, but they tend to drag their feet through endless epilogues once the main conflict's resolved.
Never read any of those otome isekai villainess stuff though. Fantasy/medieval settings don't really appeal to me for some reason
I hate those tsunderes. Like, tf? They are not my cup of tea.
And, those serieses where the MC is way too shy to hold hands for 3 seasons? FUCK IT. I HATE THEM
@Nevafrost I hear you. Tsunderes can be done well, but it's definitely an art.
Romance fans have been seeing a trend with 2020s romance manga ditching a lot of the older cliches, including the classical tsundere and slow relationship progress. There's still a lot of slop, and many more unbearable tropes have been birthed, but I think we're in the beginnings of a renaissance
Are they not? I am confused~. As they are a main inspiration for my writing efforts. Not otome per se. But noble girl reincarnation villainess stories~.
AFAIK, shounen, shoujo, etc. are mostly used as demographics for manga publishers. Although there may be tropes or even stories that are more popular within a certain demographic, that also varies between works.
So noble-villainess stories can be shoujo if they run in a shoujo publication or are otherwise aimed at a younger female audience, but they can be aimed at a different demographic as well.
But in the case of webnovels, since they don't have the same kind of publishing scheme as manga, whether or not something's seen by readers as shoujo, shounen, etc. would mostly likely be based off tropes and vibes
