Idk, I actually enjoy Elden Ring a lot. Felt like the logical conclusion to the Souls formula, in spite of some of its weird design choices
I probably won't play Nightreign any time soon (as I don't have a platform to play it on), but I'm willing to believe it's actually fun and just looks weird to Soulsborne traditionalists.
In other words, I am the biggest Soulsborne glazer
I won't say a lot about ER. Instead I will say that the idea behind Nightreign is a lot more fun than ER. If they spend all those years on it, making Nightreign actual game and polishing it, it would've been great.
DS3 still is probs my favorite, but I think ER actually improved on a lot of the gameplay elements, especially combat, with build variety and AoWs. But where ER does totally lose out against DS3 is the part that I care about the most: the bosses
Also ER's legacy dungeons just aren't as engaging as classic Soulsborne level design.
ER didn't improve on gameplay elements in my opinion. Ashes of War are glorified Weapon Arts. Is there more? Yes. Are they balanced? No. Are they more fun than DS3? In my opinion no. I would rather get bloodborne treatment where there are less weapons, but they are all way more fun and unique.
Jump is clunky, useless and overpowered at the same time. Stealth is useless. Your character still heals slowly, and they programmed bosses to attack you as soon as you heal, all while the bosses are now faster. Your character is also just as slow as in DS3, but every enemy is faster. I don't think it's an improvement, but I admit it is a change.
