Just offer them something with hummus on it and they might like it. No need to tell them that it is hummus at first, but also, hummus isn't that good...

Tell them it was what gave all the greek heroes ate and you can dip anything you want into it. Pita, Dino nugs, chips, fresh veggies. sweeter hummuses like roasted red pepper can be better for children's pallets as well.

We made it together and I set aside a small amount with no garlic in it. He said he would try it with no garlic, but then refused.

But yeah, the Greek hero thing might work!

Almost every single flavor that a person now enjoys is an acquired taste. The only thing we enjoy as babies is sugar and then salt. So the trick to get your kid to enjoy hummus is to sneak chickpeas into meals until his taste buds crave it; it should take approximately 14 feedings.

I've been making milk with it his entire life. He's cooking with me now, so I can't sneak much past him.

If you can't sneak it past him, then you can use the method my parents tried on me: "Well, that's what we have for dinner! So you can either eat that or go hungry the whole night!"

It either works, or he'll come to hate the ingredient even more. The less you yell, the more likely it is to work (after approximately 14 feedings).
