You got a point. The way FFVII did that, is that the soldiers were genetically enhanced. However, I believe it deteriorates their body.

They gain superhuman abilities, but the enhancement would eventually kill them if they kept at it from what I remember.

The timeline of MCU's SSS was well plot out, sort of. Cap Murica's was strong but required a stable and good mind/ heart to use.

Then a bunch of knockoffs with a bunch of side-effects like physical mutation etc

Then came the Flagsmashers/ US Agent with not much mental side effect? I think?

But just like nano tech, I feel a sense of dread.
