I don't think it should be an issue because politics are integral to a lot of stories' themes (some would even say all art is political ) . Forbidding it would be forbidding discussion about a very basic aspect of storytelling.

There is no good politics; either you offend someone, or the political aspect of your text is so shallow and meaningless; ofc you can make a do , picking the right side but that's not good. And even if you try to be neutral, it would be impossible. What we think is neutral is our perception of what should be neutral: it's bias in disguise. We're like hamsters stuck in a roulette, what do we know about the landscape?
