I have two arms

Wear the best armor you can get. You are going to get hit, and when it comes to weapons, they are deadly everywhere. You have to come in with the mindset that you have to die to win.

Prioritize grappling against long bladed weapons. They have the reach advantage and lethality advantage. No way you can trade punches and kicks with that distance. Just like fighting someone with a clear reach advantage, you have to force yourself in, even if it meant eating shots.

Distance management is key. Just because they have the longer reach, doesn't mean that you can't manage distance. Use your footwork, maintain distance and let them chase you, take note of their attack patterns from afar.

Control their wrist. We can't have them drawing a hidden knife on us as we grapple so we should maintain wrist control of their sword arm as we pin them to the ground with our grappling.

One strategy I visualize is maintaining distance, throwing jabs at the space between to provoke a strike from the bladed opponent. What we're looking for is an overhead/downward slash. As soon as those elbows lift up, keep low and charge like a maniac into a double-leg takedown entry. Wrap your arms around their waist or a single leg and trip them into a takedown.

Once you take them down, immediately use your shoulder to pin them down as you slide, then use your weight to pin the sword arm and control that wrist. Work your way into either a full mount or side control, then use your free arm to blast their head with ground and pound until they let go of their sword.

After that, the armed person is fucked. Go ahead and send him to sleepy land with ground and pound or lock up a submission (go for that armbar on their sword arm and break it for extra swag!)

If anyone's reading this, what are your thoughts about it? Do you think you can take on an armed opponent too while unarmed?

I don't have any arms but that doesn't stop me bringing weapons along.
