Did you recently have an accident involving super glue?

Is it exclusively affecting your fingers? If not, what else.
Additionally, you say this is recurring. Can you recall when it first started occurring? Has this happened since childhood or is it a later development?

Just the fingers. It started sometime around 2014, at least that's what I remembered. Btw, I have diabetes type II.

Honestly it should just be due to dry skin.
But are your fingers blistering or rashing at all? Or is this instead just peeling and flaky skin.
Last few questions. Do you fidget? Are you aware of any form of odd sleep behavior? Finally, do you pull at or otherwise aggravate your fingers?

Just peeling off, and yeah, it's flaky.

I don't fidget. No odd sleep behavior. I do pull at my fingers (make the knuckles pop).

Isn't it always really humid there? Dry skin seems unlikely

Maybe they were right about the lizard people. :blob_hmm:

Harsh cleaning chemicals maybe? Come in contact with oven cleaner?

This is likely due to dry skin or a poorly maintained lipid barrier.
So first of all, be careful if you get any infections. Skin like that can allow them to get pretty bad.
But to prevent it in the future try try to limit using hot water. After washing your hands, remember to apply moisturizer afterwards.

Just gentle soap and moisturizer should at least help mitigate this.

Additionally (in regards to melchi) moisturizer is important regardless of climate. Humidity really doesn't replace moisturizer, as your skin often doesn't absorb water from the air all that well. Moisturizer also has other benefits beyond just moisture.

@melchi Don't handle chemicals lately. Been grading students, so I hafta be careful of my hands.

@Omnii Thanks for the help!

@Valmond Who knows? Maybe I'm one of the lizard people.

I got nothing much to complain about my fingers, save that it is difficult to login at work coz of biometrics.

Now that I remember it; I'm often spraying alcohol to my hands.

Empress_Omnii
I'm going to sleep now, but I will mention that alcohol does dry out your hands.
So that likely is a part of it, but trying to use gentler soaps and moisturizer will help even if that is the primary cause.

Alcohol to the hands could do it, but do you only do that during this time of year?
