Time period.
Is it modern, pre islamic etc...

What time period they want to know about?

So basically the recent history. For that I recommend legitimate history books because of how much politics are involved in those events.

So all the mess that happen post Ottoman's dissolution.

Gonna ask my Fiance. She is really into middle eastern history and culture. With the recent history and events being your preferred time period, there may be less fictional stories. There are a few books on the Russian-Iran/Persian war that are good.

So she says that she recommends the Cambridge Illustrated History Islamic World by Francis Robinson which pages 90-250 are about the post 1800s, modern culture, etc.
