This is why medicine currently has put more priority on how to live with a condition, instead of how to cure it.

Even looking past identity (a huge, important topic on its own), this is important because the key part of life is development and learning. Taking a shortcut will get you to places faster, but hinders learning, which will typically get you a harsher lesson the next time the same issue crops up.

This is also true for far more than the mind, for example relationships or virtually any kind of skill and ability.

Medicine used to prioritize trying to cure a perceived illness by making the patients more ‘normal’, and look at the result eugenics, forced sterilizations, and lobotomies. Just be yourself, and if you feel like a condition is significantly impacting your life feel free to ask a doctor on how to mange and live with the condition. However don’t feel as if you must do so.

Yeah... You gotta learn to live with it... I used to take 12 pills every day... But I managed to get it down to 1 pill a day after 19 years of effort... and yes I've been on medication since I was 2 years old.

@Prince_Azmiran_Myrian The fact that there are parasites exploiting medicine, doesn’t mean that we should ignore best practice. It instead means that we must organize to create a future where such parasites do not and cannot exist.

Indeed.

I am on 6 a day + inhalers, with rescue inhalers and a nebulizer for emergencies.

Damn... I hate using the nebulizer.
