I find questions like this to be stupid. So a character can kill people, but once you add a modifier to people it stops being ok? Sounds retarded. Also sounds like how certain Chinese authors justify rape. If you rape a rapist's relative or lover it somehow doesn't make you a bad person!

@Nolff The idea was similar to whether or not abortion is right, though the situation was specific and much worse. Not surprised at all it disappeared.

Wait, hold on wtf

Both Sailus and your explanation get my consciousness cranked to 11

What the hell happened there?

@SailusGebel I think the vast majority of those people plainly don't see their own bias. Sometimes they're just that stupid or that hypocritical, but unfortunately there's a lot of cases when it's caused by their upbringing and surroundings and they aren't even aware of the issue even though they could if they thought critically.

Also, the vast majority of questions like that can be answered with "whether they have the right or not is entirely subjective, but only the person in question should decide that".

I can understand it from personal standpoint. Someone did something to your child, and you will want to punish them accordingly. I get it. Or to get revenge on someone who did terrible things to you. But if we look at it in a vacuum, it's all the same. Doesn't matter whom you kill, you still kill someone. Oh, and by the way, people are so insensitive towards killing, it's scary.

They add these modifiers as if it's not equally bad.

It's basically standpoints, isn't it?

One's terror is another's joy.

I personally don't fully agree with this, but yeah, it's all kinds of messed up how many modern people approach these topics. I've seen this a lot in regards to the recent wars.

I think, in the end, it boils down to how much value one puts on an individual. A lot believe every life is worth the same, others believe some lives are worse cause they've been born in a different country, it isn't really possible to fight that cause people's values are fucked up.

@Nolff That's somewhat related, but the original was more like whether one has right for revenge over something horrible against those who have not caused it.
