Most of online politics is performative. Instead of coming up with ways of trying to help others and doing your best to do that, now the goal is to be the most just by punching everyone who you disagree with. Sometimes that is justified, mind you, but I have little hope in the person who threw the punch if they don’t back that with a solid reason and don’t put just as much effort in improving the world.

However personally I don’t think we should stop talking about these issues, what we need to do is come up with a solid plan to alleviate/fix them in the present. Ignoring an issue just to let it fester is counterproductive, but so is pointing out a festering wound and doing nothing about it once fixing it proved more difficult than a protest or two.
