This guy really doesn't like cliffhangers. He always comments on stuff that gets resolved in the next chapter, not to emntion he has a hard time reading in between the lines.

@Assurbanipal_II The type that you'd want to throw a sucker punch if possible.
But in any case, as for norms you are right. I often get the complaint that I don't praise anything as I am a grumpy German caterpillar. That I say the truth also hurts often.
Exactly. You are tempted to write something like, you know what, you and me, on a night in Manila, in a dark street. I am waiting there for you.

Indeed. However, Truth's a bitter pill that we have to swallow. Well in any case, I hope you'd be able to shoo that nitpicker away. It's pretty annoying to have that kind of reader around, honestly.

Nah, Manila's streets nowadays are put in a curfew starting from 12am, so you better fight from 10pm to 11:59 pm.
I can understand both of your all's frustrations. Thankfully I think this is the worst comment I've had, and I think there was still something to take away from it, maybe it's that I'm bad at relaying things? Though maybe it was wish fulfillment too? Like the commenter Hans had?
I hope I handled it well. I can imagine how hard it must be. Especially for you, A2, I know how much effort you put into your Schwarz story and making all the lines perfect.
Even valid criticism is hard because it's something we work so hard at, it's difficult to distance from it and think objectively.
There's also just, people's tastes, sometimes it hard to tell what is critique and what is preference.
On the topic of people not understanding differences between areas, cultural, and etc. I think it's really easy these days to get stuck in "Bubbles" and lose awareness. I know I've been caught off guard here or there, but I don't think I've ever been deluded into thinking we're all so similiar.
Hell if anything, I'm not that great at socializing so I've noticed things others might not out of necessity and it's apparent the person across the street could be wildly different even if you both grew up in the same town, much less people across countries or continents.
When writing, you can try to take things into account, but, ultimately, at least, for me, I think it's hard to write outside of your own experience. The best you can do is try to research and get into characters heads and represent things as best as you are able.
I know I'm attempting to go outside of my comfort zone to get practice and hopefully be able to write other people better, it's not really, too apparent yet, but as I go along I hope to be able to write more varied characters and settings.
I do find it a bit easy to get distracted and lost in research. Though maybe it's not a terrible thing to read several pages about something rather than just grab a piece that seems relevant and chuck it in.
