I’ve read so much shit that just drops the ball on the last few chapters that I’ve been conditioned into only reading ongoing series, or dropping a series mid way if the author leaves something that I could consider a satisfactory conclusion

That's an interesting reading technique.

I've done the same thing, Mushoku Tensei's last book got skipped by me for the same reason.

The "safe" ending.
The "hey i dont know how to end this shit so i will do it in a mega safe and cliche way, like authors did eons ago" ending.

isnt grand, epic, cool,
but its a very GOOD ENDING !

And quite reversing.
