That’s why I’m not a fan of 'smart' protagonists in the regression genre. They usually outwit their enemies just because they have the biggest cheat: knowledge of the future.
But there are a few rare cases where the future keeps changing beyond the main character’s expectations, which forces them to grow and improvise. Those are much more enjoyable to read.
