I think a lot of the bear vs man is that:
Does the man have a gun? A knife?
Is the man a serial killer?
personally, I would choose a bear rather than ANY HUMAN. like, all my concerns about the man would be concerns about a woman as well. My stranger danger does not need to account for gender.
