The whole myth of vampires not seeing their reflection in mirrors stems from back when mirrors used to be backed with silver lining.
In the past, silver was thought to ward off evil, and vampires were considered as such, thus the reason why their reflections did not show.

The same reason was for photographs back then, too. The plates were silver-lined, if I recall.
