Of course you WANT to explain, like Quirks, Bankai, Ki, Haki and what not, but there are times in fantasy/supernatural stories where they just throw it when they use it and the MC/any other character didn't even asked because they already know.
How often do you, a man or woman in modern era say "I'm going to push this button which turn on my mobile devices"
I don't think that correlates since people in fantasy/supernatural stories don't explain their powers to old men, but while they're using and casting it
I've seen people treat heroes who have just come to the world as "outsiders", which is not much different from what someone who's not of your generation is, an outsider.
Though, if you're going to explain the breaking the 4th wall phenomenon as "explaining to outsiders", that really is what it is all about: let's break the internal logic so we can explain to who is the real outsider what is really happening in this universe.
If we had superpowers in the real world, someone wouldn't say "He's speeding the integral velocity of the molecules to...", they would say "oh, he shoots fire." when seeing someone shooting fire from their hand.
