Answer(Keep in mind this is only my opinion). Why I find it lazy writing? Because you use an almost universally hated thing to induce hate, dislike, or the so-called "disturbing" feeling. Even when you add detail, "meat," and context to it, it's still a very basic thing.
It's like when you make a villain, and to make the villain loathsome, you make the villain pedo+racist+rapist and so on. I believe even those who don't write can come up with such things, and it only works on those who see it for the first time.
Lastly, when you use such things to make something "dark" you don't mask your intent. It's like how they kill a cute dog in movies or games to make viewers feel sad. I don't see any "darkness," or "disturbing" things. I see your desire to make me feel that way.
Well, I don't write such things to make people feel in certain way. I write because I am interested in how thing would unfold. If I could find other works that make use of such ideas, I wouldn't bother.
I probably was not able to convey my thought properly, but it is part of it. Even if you don't write with such intentions, that's how it ends up looking in my eyes. Also, it directly contradicts what you said earlier. You want to write "dark" stuff, yet at the same time you don't want to make people in a certain way. It doesn't work like that.
Well, want requires intent. Want to write dark stuff is more about wanting to have something dark. I didn't really count the audience's expectation and reaction into it. Hence, there is no intent. Thus, no wanting the audience to feel in any way. What I wanted is dark stuff for the sake of dark stuff. To have something in the world because it didn't exist.
