I don't enjoy it either. The concept and the worldbuilding are pretty good, but it just doesn't feel entertaining after a while.

I love(d) Overlord until discovering he turns completely evil.
In a same way, i hate this recent trend for chinese WNs where "MC" is "villain" and get the girls, not the "protagonist" that for some reason IS EVIL. Which is facepalming.

I got a favorite cWN where MC restaurant owner linked to multi worlds
There he welcomed Ainz to eat food and stuff. And there, Ainz was happy because the "anti-emotions green effect" didnt work in restaurant. Which is kinda an (non-canon?) explanation for why he become so evil later on. Bc without emotions, no difference between living/dead, good/evil.
