She was focused on the family, not the sex.

People back then died a lot so having more children meant more chances of continuity of the blood line

And children were an important asset to many families who depended on agriculture and stuff also the lack of a proper pension system also encouraged peeps to have children

Not to mention lack of proper protection, uneducation ,religion and complicated politics involved back then

Improvement in healthcare(vaccines, treatment for diseases(, infrastructure(social security and the like), x education(about protection )and social development (birth control was forbidden back then though some places still forbid birth control)have changed the trend for now

Ya, current times kinda suck for relationships. And there's a whole slew of reasons for it.

@Quack-Doctah your reasoning is absolutely incorrect. lower birthrate, late marriages, disrupted marriages, less family oriented focus, etc. are a product of the industrial revolution + egregious capitalist practices.
