Dying from strangulation is very painful. Just like in Doki Doki Litterature club have shown, its slow, painful and likely to regret during it but can't stop it (bloody fingers). Also from a old JP novel, its even told that your bladder and "behind" will release, hence very dirty scene after your death.

Random info, seen in ChinWN, a particular (banned) insecticide, had the strange effect, that very little is needed for a human to die from it, but will only happen later despite no pain or effects experienced, and even going to hospital can't save it.
Where in the novel, a random commented that a close person drank a spoonful (as a darebet) and parents crying when knowing but he felt nothing wrong at that time.
