Laugher is not really onomatopoeia. It depends what I'm writing, but I won't use them for most things. I did use them for my one shot, but other than that not really.

Like "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"
Or "Teehee."
Or "Neeheeheeheehee..."
Or "AHAH!"
Or "OHOHOHOHOhoooo... You're F$@#!"
Or "Hehehehehehehe..."
Or "Heeheeheeheeheehee..."
Or "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHA..."

Interesting, I guess I never really viewed it as that.

I can take laughter, "Hahaha!"

Not explosion, "boom!"

Or in japan porn, "iyaaaaa❤️"

@RepresentingEnvy totally understand! For some reason, it just feels different, doesn't it?
TheMonotonePuppet

@NotaNuffian I think one could pull off using boom for a crazy person POV or if you have successfully painted your character as actually badass... *thinking pose*
Although yes. All porn SFX are just extra. This I will fully agree with you.

@TheMonotonePuppet the only time I accept a "boom!", it is to come out of Dio-esque villain's mouth as he blows up the children hospital.

When I mean "boom!" In previous context, I meant it like an actual explosion. Just describe the damage or say "a loud rupture", no need to put "boom!"

Likewise, say "slam onto the table with a loud bang", not

"Slam!" She struck the table hard.

Laugther are mostly included in dialogue tag, I don't consider them as onomatopoeia.
TheMonotonePuppet
TheMonotonePuppet
But they are onomatopoeia even if they are in dialogue tag.

Are they? They may be onomatopoeia in the real term but they practically never used as onomatopoeia in novel. Cause it's a sound you make with your mouth and are included in the conversation/dialogue. You only include them as onomatopoeia when you want to give a laugther a sort of emotion like *mad laught echoed*

It's not a matter of being used as onomatopoeia. The word is defined as "the formation of a word from a sound associated with what is named." Haha is a word. Teehee is a word. They form from sounds, and are used in dialogue as words. "mad laughter echoed" is exactly what onomatopoeia is not.
