You know, as I rummaged through the google docs of half written works, I laughed at the old advice of "write your own life experience, it is more vivid."

The problem is that if it is an unresolved bad experience, the character just starts as a miserable fuck and either goes down the route of wish fulfilment or author's self resolvement.
