All jokes aside, I have some ego problems. I think and believe that I'm smarter than most people. So I try to fight this as it affects my life negatively.

Most people believe they are smarter than most people. That’s normal.

The problem is whether you think you’re smarter than you actually are. When people think they’re smarter than they actually are it becomes a problem.

Think of it this way, at least half of all people are above average, so they’ll think they’re smarter than most.

in order for there to be an average there must be people above and below.

therefore if someone is above average (which is common) they’ll think they’re smarter than most and technically be correct.

Let's take SH forums for example. I think I'm the smartest here, it's an involuntarily thought born from my ego problems. When I start analyzing everything and think rationally, I understand that I'm not. Does it affect me negatively? Yes.

Of course it’ll affect you negatively when you think you’re smarter than I am
