If a rifle fires like a pistol, would that not be a testament to the quality of the rifle? By referring to the sword as being as sharp as a club, it is the same. A club is a blunt weapon; a sword is a sharp weapon. Rather than a comparison like a "flower's kiss" which cannot easily be imagined and detracts from the story, I think this comparison would be more vivid in the reader's imagination.
...On second thought, don't. That might be offensive to sharper people.
A rubber hammer, maybe? Or rubber in general.
