And voila, because I can't say anything good about them without lying my guts out, it turned into smearing their names.

Which then lead to them indirectly saying "That again"

-___- I should have simply shut up, but then this friendship would really die.

Ya know, I don't think you can really call them 'friends' if they're like that. I mean, while it's true that a 'real' friend would point your mistakes, there's always a proper time for that. And that time when you ranted is not it.

Relationships go 'two-ways', at least the proper ones. If you're the only person in your circle of friends who keeps giving, and receving nothing/little in return, I don't think you should maintain that 'friendship', or it'll be toxic for you.

Ikr? I'm reconsidering if I should meet up with them or simply ghost them.

Not keen on ending it over this matter. I'd rather keep them in memory of good friends during school time.

"Beasties" is what I initially read and was wondering why you thought your pets could talk... my mistake. Sorry for your loss. I've learned that friends aren't really friends unless they're emotionally stable and intelligent, otherwise you just have human pet cat who tries to pretend to be a friend.

Ghost them. I think you don't owe those peeps an explanation.

If they ask properly (not fighting you), then you may explain why you did that. This is optional, because again, I'm sure they're not the ones feeding you, or giving your everyday needs. So you're not obligated to do that.

We haven't really been in contact after I moved cities. The estrangement over time just caught me off guard.

I was never good with goodbyes.

Yeah, I guess you can ghost them. They're not even worth your time.

@Anon2021 beasties lmao. True I didn't feel comfortable with sharing my thoughts with them for a very long time already, but I tend to forget rules I set for myself and then get hurt like this.

Sorry to hear that. My friends rarely ever talk me anymore. I haven’t hung out with them since pre corona, since now they only ever meet up to do drugs and I’m too straight laced to even drink bar the rare occasion. I hope you’re able to make new friends that understand you better, that’s what I’m trying to do right now, but it sure is hard to meet people nowadays

@CarburetorThompson Thanks, It's really hard to meet new people, especially with niche hobbies. And frankly, I hate my age generation, why am I gen z.

I may as well stick to online friends that are available when I actually have time after work. Wish you good luck with your search!

People in real life would be better if you can meet genuine ones. The problem is it's hard to find genuine people. When you do find one you don't have to worry much. I find it's easier to find genuine people in the older generation.

Well, percentage of maturity gets higher the older people get.

well from what you wrote here i think there's some kind of miscommunication going on. It'd be good to have the full picture before doing anything drastic. I'd say ask them why they said that but I dont have the full context. its not a fun position to be in.
