The expression is better compared to before, the hair is a lot simpler but I can feel you had more confident drawing it with a simple shape plus it had more volume, and the pose feel much more dynamic. You've improved a lot in this year.

I'd say the newer one feels much more realistic, in comparison to the older, which looks sketchy. Especially the face and the posture. It's definitely an improvement.

I realize I didn't label which one's new/old and now I'm not sure whether I should take the comments (save for one) as a compliment or a critique.

For clarification's sake, top new, bottom old.
