People are often bitter with their own lives and think there is some type of universal secret to happiness, and when it's found out to be nothing but patience, enjoyment, and understanding they delude themselves into believing that isn't true to make up an excuse for not being able to address their own problems.

:blob_hmm_two: They never questioned whether they are the root of the unhappiness?

cause obviously the recipe works just not for them

I have no idea what you tell them nor how you paraphrased their responses, but this might not be as stupid as it sounds considering that actions that make you feel happy might not be the actual cause for the satisfactory experience.

Thus: How can you be so happy and carefree?

What allows me to be so happy and carefree is a mix of physical and mental habits. Exercise, healthy eating habits, and consistent hobbies/time to destress are the physical habits. They are pretty vague because any form of exercise works whether it be going for a walk or doing push-ups. Healthy eating habits vary from culture to culture as there are many different options.

Hobbies and time to destress can be anything, so long as it helps to relax and/or gives you some sense of accomplishment. For me, this would be writing, reading, and brewing alcohol.

Mental habits are a bit harder to explain but in a sense, it is mentally boosting your self-esteem, pushing yourself to do better while being satisfied with what you can do, and doing what you can to not allow stress and pressure to build up. By doing all of these together it starts to become easy and you won't feel as bad physically while also improving your mood/attitude.
