I have some tomato plants in one of my windows. They need sunlight for only half the day and the right amount of water. Too much water and they'll drown. Too little water and they'll dry out. This can be helped by using a self-watering planter. You do have the planting time right but usually, you want to start off the seeds inside under a grow lamp so that they don't die before going outside or into a larger planter.
I don't know what your weather is like but it's way too cold for any outdoor plants right now where I am. You also don't want it to be too hot. The best range would be between 60 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit or 15 to 26 degrees Celsius.
