Anime is just a style just as cartoons are. They both are categorized under animations but are different styles that are mainly dependent upon their place of origin. Cartoons being western and anime being eastern.

I mean, Avatar is a cartoon so he still has a way out.

I just happened to be here at the moment that you posted it. I really couldn't care less because most weebs are weirdos. As for what style is? Well, I don't know because I don't have it.

Anime is a Japanese word that is the shortened form of Animeeshon... Or, in Western speak, Animation.

... Anime isn't a made up word for people that were embarrassed about saying Cartoon. It's just Animation spoken in Japanese, and shortened.

The people from the West started using the word, probably because the Japanese referred to it as Anime in their conversations about localization.

... It's really just a word that was imported to Japan, adapted to their pronunciation because Katakana leads to weird pronunciations, then imported back to the West.

Seriously, it's just Animation. That's all there is to it.

AFAIK, Toy Story is an anime as far as Japan cares.

It's made up in English. That's what I'm talking about here. You ask an English person if Toy Story is an anime, and they will say hell no. It has it's own meaning and connotations in English that are laughable.

Almost every 'new' English word is laughable btw.

America just made it worse by shortening words to save money and pretending that we can properly use other languages while pretending they're English.

it's like manhwa or manhua or manga. they're all essentially direct translations of the word 'comic' from each country of origin.
