You can say it is the fault of luck that a site's preferences doesn't reach your own, but you can't blame luck when you post on that site. That is just reckless driving.
Well, here is what these authors are doing. They see a Chinatown, and they make a taco restaurant. Then they are surprised that their taco restaurant is only getting one customer a day. No shit, the travelers don't want your fucking tacos. That's not why they came to Chinatown.
That's my perspective as well. What I mean by luck playing a part is not really "luck". I am talking about talent. Some people are just more talented than others. Like if you are born with higher intelligence, I would say that this is "luck". Same with being born to an affluent family.
I am more talking about meeting people where they are at. I don't believe in luck, but for the sake of reasonable conversations, I can use luck in my equation. And the fact is that if you can replicate something multiple times with even having some bad luck, then luck should be tossed out.
By the way, I can even say that I had bad luck. My story wasn't even displayed on the Latest Series list in the home page, but even with this, I was still able to get readers with consistent uploads, using a genre that gets readers. Imagine that.
None of mine made the latest series either. My story had 2 readers on wattpad and 5 on tapas before I deleted them, and when I randomly uploaded it here, it had 300 readers within the first few days. It’s the same story, nothing’s changed. It just happens to fit this site’s preferences.
Other times it may be a skill issue. Which is also fine, just keep writing.
