i'm not really sure, but according to my friend, she said that drawing tablet is more expensive and very heavy for low spec laptop. so she recommend me to buy drawpad since its cheaper and more friendly for my laptop. @gaylolis
i had a wacom tablet (bamboo fun medium) that runs on windows xp setups since 2012, i dont think i had any special gpus and even at that time it runs perfectly fine.
perhaps what you think is very expensive and spec-heavy is wacom cintiq. intuos small has a decent price and was built to last and runs on potato. as a wacom user myself i did use it since 2012 and only need to change the cables once.
but yeah all that matters is your budget (at least for now if it's urgent) and if you ordered a similar drawing pad to what you borrowed earlier and it suits your workflow then i think it's great
my friend's is Huion actually, and i feel like the pen control is good too. I did try wacom too, but maybe because I often borrow my friend's i felt like Huion pen response is better. Currently, I ordered Huion HS610 Medium, hope it will arrived tomorrow. @gaylolis
i did hear that huion has reliability issues with both the software and hardware and the pen can be rather fragile and it might not last as long, but if your friend can use it over 3 to 5 years then it's still a good sign.
if you grimaced at the steep price of intuos medium, there's the budget version called wacom one, like the direct successor to budget series like bamboo. but yeah as someone who never used huion myself i cant offer good advice, best of luck with your new pen tablet.
