The general sequence of character introduction is: identifying the character's identity (appearance, physical characteristics, personality, setting, and relationships) through atmosphere, actions, and interactions with other characters -> mentioning the character's name through dialogue/monologue.

A disciplined narrator lets the reader identify and recognize the character before naming him. When a character's name is mentioned in dialogue, the reader can form a mental image of that whole person. So the reader's mind will actively say, "Oh... this bald guy in the yellow tracksuit who's overly OP but lethargic is named Saitama, after all..."

That is unless you use a common name like Mary. If you say Mary, the reader is probably picturing someone.
