Would it be a good idea to let readers choose the locations for my tournament in my novel?

I've been thinking about this for a long time, and while I already have some scenarios in mind, I thought I'd give readers the option to choose. Obviously, they'll only choose the scenario; then I'll add the details and characteristics of the terrain. What do you, as great readers and writers unlike me, think?

This scheme would work better in CYOA (Create Your Own Adventure) type of stories.

For stuff that authors decide 99% of the time, I recommend you have your vision for the story instead of asking readers. For one, they may accidentaly 'destroy' the work for you. Or someone might troll you into writing something that eventually felt off from the rest of the story.

You can, however, listen to what they comment on and make it your own.

P.S.: I'm not a great author, so take this with a grain of salt (or MSG for the umami taste).

Nah, I won't let them create everything 100% either, just give them options. But I think they're right, I'll do it when I release my new novel: This Isn't My Real Self, a Damn God Kidnapped Me
Do you know how to close a thread?

Just report it to the mods. Tell them your issue is already resolved.

You can also tag them here.

If you have an active reader base, then by all means engage them. If not, don't bother - you'll just get frustrated by the one to two votes...

You should trust loyal readers. View it as a challenge to yourself to adjust your story a little. I always do polls and let readers decide important things and then do my best to spin the best Story around that decision.

I've done something similar in one of my fanfic, letting the users choose the worlds, and which worlds my guy travels to next. It can be a great experience letting them have some input into your story. Do it

Can be a fun experiment. But, like the other comments said.

Don't trust readers, even with you life.
