Hey Tony and Crew:

on the risk of shamelessly self promoting

https://www.scribblehub.com/series/2118970/the-room-book-iii--destruction/

I have been posting chapters for the past couple of days, and getting zero reads. I know that not everything is going to garner 1000's of reads... but I would expected some random traffic. Not even showing up in the latest chapter posting list. I know.. I have sat there and watched after chapter was supposed to publis... and nothing after an hour or so.

I have sent an email, but wanted to reach out here as well.

Thanks!

Hello, it's because you're posting the chapter then manually sorting it. Your whole chapter list is sorted in the wrong order because you're sorting them manually.

oh..ok... didn't know that made a difference. I thought doing that [manually] would encourage more sequential reading, and prevent people from started at the end and moving backwards... my bad I guess.

Thank you for the clarification.

So - let me as this quesiton.... if I were to STOP manually sorting, and start start posting normally.. would the chapters start showing up in the feed? For example.. I have up to chapter 77 manually sorted but in draft state, but I have many more to publish... so if I were to start just "publishing" at chapter 78, with out manually sorting from now on... would that solved the issue.. or is it that once its manual sorting in it, its stuck that way?

Just curious.

There is never a need for manual sorting, unless you are posting your chapters out of order, or need to post an extra chapter in-between existing ones. This is because sorting is based on the reader's site preference based on a button. Let me show you what I mean.

This is the default sorting for my story's chapters. As you can see, the newest one is at the top of the list. However, from a reader's point of view, it could start like the default sorting as shown here:

Or if they reverse the sorting, it would start at chapter 1 like here:

And you don't have to worry, the big Read button on your story page automatically leads to the "oldest" chapter on the sorting list, which usually means the prologue or chapter 1.

However, since you manually reversed the sorting, the algorithm and the system gets confused. If you try clicking the big Read button on your story's main page, it will lead you to the latest chapter instead, because in the sorting page, it's the last chapter on the list (bottom-most).

If you start posting normally again, your chapters should start showing up in latest update as usual. But, your previous changes to the chapter list would make the reader having to press previous chapter button to read the next chapter. To fix this, try to revert your sorting to the default one, and since there's no default sort button at the moment, you would have to sort it back manually.

It would fuck up the order.
First things first, you need to reorder them back to the default state, else the chapter order will be all over the place.
But yes, if you won't continue reordering them manually, newly added chapters will show in the Latest Updates when you publish them.
If you want chapter 36 (as you have 35 published as of now) to show on the list, you possibly need to reupload it, as (if I'm understanding it correctly) it was already manually rearranged.

I have the exact same issue. I thought it was the translation error. I contacted Tony but he said it's not the translation bug (mine are not translation...)

I don't sort chapters, rearrange the orders or something. I type a chapter, save it as draft.

...Draft Chapter 32

Draft Chapter 31

Draft Chapter 30...

Then I just keep posting them from bottom to the top.

...Draft chapter 32

Published Chapter 31

Published Chapter 30...

It used to work perfectly but lately, it is not.

Can you tell me how to solve this? (English is not my first or even second language so I have a bit difficulty understanding all this...)
