What do you feel should be in a reverse world story?

I've seen a few reverse world stories on scribblehub but feel like most are the same: As in, male and female gender norms and culture are reversed And a little over the top. Often leading to a variety of smut scenes with very little plot progression besides a bit of exploration around the new cultural norms and values.

What would you as reader like to see added in such a story variant? I myself was thinking about a variety of species: Demi humans (canine, feline etc) elves, orcs maybe even demon subtypes. This could add more cultures and social norms outside of the changed gender norm. Maybe demi humans identify things based on scent/smell (random example)

What do you think would be fun to throw into the mix, dungeons, classes or something else entirely? Maybe a more economical focus where the MC (even though males are typically seen as more typical household caretakers) want to start a bussines? Or become a dungeon diver, maybe even a soldier? Maybe instead of dungeons there's a typical monster hunting job similar to tokyo ghouls.

Or perhaps it should be taken for another spin with the reverse world setting being in the medieval ages? Considering the social norms of that time.

What's your idea/opinion on this?

A classless society characterized by common ownership of the means of production with free access to the articles of consumption.
Karl Marx would cry reading this.

Personally, I just wish the author had explored more realistically and in-depth the other side of humanity, whether psychologically, anthropologically, sociologically, or geopolitically, and depicted how the consequences impacted the MC (so the reader could feel it).

In real life I'm very tired of how social class, class warfare are all over society. it might seem kind of nice to see a classless society story.

Even since a small kid in real life, I've seen class ranking all over the place. But I didn't always realize what I was seeing.

I like the idea of a moral reversal society story actually also. But the problem is that usually people screw them up pretty badly by making them edgy and making blunders. I also like the idea of stories where women outnumber the men a lot. Because in real life women act spoiled. Sorry I hope I don't offend anyone, but that's WHY people like a story where men are treated better... because they aren't getting it in real life. So a story where women treat men good seems nice to me.

I'm pretty sure there are a couple reverse world stories where men and woman social norms are reversed. As in, woman chase men, men are usually the more shy/timid ones (lower libido compared to females) etc, etc. In most of those stories the mc reincarnates into the body of one of those men which makes him different then the rest.

As far as woman outnumbering men goes, world of woman is a story like that. I'm sure there are a couple more of them around as well.

I don't mind the smut, I just wish those authors have the basic decency to take their setting premise seriously. Most of the stories always end up with MC becoming the harem leader and his supposedly proactive/'independent' women turn into loyal demure women (this looks worse when the world also has free sex aspect in it). After MC gets enough harem member, the setting is then forgotten altogether and it becomes an insular drama.

Like, FUCK, can't these authors sympathize with men with sub kinks?! It's [Men Weak Women Strong], [Men Househusband], [Men kabedon'd], etc all over the main page, and all they get are... these stories?

I'm personally not into sub kinks where the male is always on the receiving end but I do understand where your coming from.

Whenever a male is sexually submissive in a novel, said novel usually gets review bombed or down-voted by people. A fair amount of scribblehub readers prefer a typical alpha MC and are against anything that isn't just that.

Honestly, you could give writing something like this with a more sub focus a go. I'm sure there are similar minded readers that would be into it. Or you could post a more worked out idea as a writing prompt for others to pick up.

It'd drop a warning in the synopsis or the start of the first chapter to chase away the typical alpha MC Sigma type readers though. If they don't start reading they won't get mad over the MC'S sub preference either.

My proposed solution is to have a furry dommy mommy try to dominate the MC for a bit then the MC pull an Uno reverse card on her.

There’s this author Whatsawhizzer he has two stories World of Women and Man of the House if you want examples of an inverted world you can read those. I mostly just read his isekai dungeon girls fic. If you want some inspiration for ideas or what not to do starting there maybe a good shot. A lot of inverted world fics are smut based which is fine as long as it doesn’t turn into smut with plot instead of plot with smut. I think if you want to write about a society with flipped gender roles you’re going to have to do a dive into why gender roles are the way they are here in the real world and come up with realistic reasons why it’s different in your story. You could cop out and do the extremely high # of women to men ratio but I think that’s a little overdone. I guess you could do what they did in this manga https://www.mangaread.org/manga/dun...zou-mahou-wo-moratta-ore-no-hosoude-hanjouki/
Where men can’t use magic and are physically stronger than men. Could tie into that isekai Demi human thing you mentioned. There have been women rulers before modern women’s rights you could draw some inspiration from there. I suppose just avoid the uncanny valley of making something too close to real life make the characters interesting and you’d have a potentially good story in the works. Good luck Godspeed.

Idk. The core concept of women being more like men is… uh… I mean someone could do something with it but the kind of story where that is enough of a thing to rely upon as a story engine doesn’t sound all that fun to me.

Now, a single culture that does this? That’s an idea with some more legs because you can actually contrast them with other women. I based half of the drow characters in my story on tropes from female targeted romantasy stories and romantic manhwa my wife reads and we talk about, which I then gender flipped (psychotic controlling male lead becomes controlling drow matriarch, and the one successful male drow I’ve shown is modeled after the female lead of one of those stories who is powerful and sexy and has zero visible ambition outside of running a side hustle). They mapped super well onto a chaotic evil matriarchal society with almost no adjustments and I choose to not read into that at all. Makes for a fun evil power couple at least.

Time flows backward. People are born old, and old age ends in infancy. Children appear at working age.
“FBI, open up” becomes Elderly predator instead of Child predator. The world is upside down. Polite words are offensive. Offensive words are polite. A sad expression means happiness. A happy expression means sadness. People wear angry expressions all the time as it was normal, and a neutral face is considered angry. It must be a weird, funny story, I guess.

Like SpongeBob’s Opposite Day episode. “Happy Opposite Day, Squidward. We hate you.”

This thread reminds me of a story that I'm writing. The world isn't a reverse one, just a certain culture. It's a fantasy world where the entire elf race revolted against the strongest god in the past (that dude was kind of not right in the head). They failed spectacularly, and in spite, the god punished them by changing the male elves' whole biology into something akin of omega male (with their sperm infertile) to bring the elf race into a slow, despairing death. But one female elf mage comes up with a spell that can temporarily inverse the caster's sex organs (so futanari). This spell doesn't help the turned male cause they will just end up turning into a true female. Because of this curse and the invention of the spell, the whole elven society drastically changes. What was once a pure society controlled by powerful mages, now the upper class is only for magically talented female (elf) mages who have almost unlimited sexual privileges.

Yeah, switch play can be rather kinky. I personally think that even when you prefer to be the dom - if you secure about yourself and trust your partner, ocasionally taking the role of the sub (Because you partner might want to dom as well) should be something you can do. Even if your not into actively subbing, you could meet your partner half way to ensure it's equally satisfying, like allowing her to decide positions, or a bit of ropeplay. It's less active while still allowing someone else to lead.

Characters should be able to reflect that without being driven into the ground by a reader base.

Honestly, a male getting Isekai'd into a medieval fantasy world as a futunari would be a interesting concept. Considering how females were treated in medieval society - could throw in classes and LITRPG and go for a more realistic harem building variant. Wouldn't be a reverse world exactly but is similar, as in, the MC's in a situation with changing social values.

There's also the whole concept of skewed MtF ratios like ( world of woman ) in which the male birth ratio is 1:500. I haven't seen a story like that around in which someone took the futanari route.

Well, the first thing I'd like to ask/need to be addressed is what kind of "reverse" world? Because as far as I've observed, there the "reverse chastity" world and then there's the "extreme gender disparity" reverse world—though either is often clumped together.

My opinion is that it's a relatively lazy trope to include... without better plotting schematics. You shouldn't pantser around with this trope, otherwise readers would've just label one as another wish-fulfillment story.

This reminds me of a WIP porn game a friend got me into trying. Twisted World, I think. The whole premise was pretty much an over-the-top reverse world where women are either dommy mommies, muscle amazones, or futas, and all males are femboys. They just replaced male and female character tropes, tho, so it might not be what you're looking for.

Maybe look up tribal cultures or matriarchies in history books for a better idea.
