What would the first thing you would do if you regressed 30 years back to the past?

Well the first thing that my protagonist, Yul Suyeon a 16 year old idiot girl would do is beat up her dad. And you can call that excessive. But she's a justified crashout.

In her life, her father was nothing but an alcoholic bum who left the house leaving behind his sickly wife and lonely daughter all alone to go out to the bar to drink. And upon his death which should have came far sooner, his death left nothing but a few month's worth of money, a worn-down apartment and a box of trash.

It was better than nothing but seriously, it would never make up for the life he could have gave. But upon coming back home, Yul goes through her father's box of trash to find his old phone and accidentally injuring herself her thumb on it, she bleeds and finds herself back 30 years back into the past in Seoul. It was the year 2025 and the world was completely different from the hell that she used to live as neither the Tower nor Dungeons have came to ruin Earth yet.

it was the typical modern era but after getting a call from her mom from the past, she would find herself in an unfortunate or rather fortunate confrontation against the young teenager version of her father.

Well if you are interested that's the premise of my first novel on Scribblehub, "Regressed 30 Years To The Beginning of The Tower To Beat Up My Dad"

(Also is Author General the right category for this post?)

But to answer my question. I got regressed to my parent's time, I'm definitely not throwing hands with my dad. But I would probably just creepily watch over my parents and document their lives. Direct involvement would probably just mean I get removed from the existence as I would like cause a time paradox.

Based on what I would assume the demographic of a portion of the writing platform is; I'd hazard a guess of 'not be born' as the generic answer, I'm sure most people would do something different even for the sake of it at some point however unless they are really on edge about those kinds of paradoxes.

Umm...probably the wrong spot to post this.

You probably want it in story feedback or maybe chapter discussion down with readers.

Clickbait titles disguising ads? In this most sacred of forums?
The horror!

I mean if we went with the original question and ignore the click bait....

I would need more info...like am I my 42 year old ass, just suddenly showing up in 1995? Or am i some kid? A baby? Was I given resources?

That would be the best time to invest in Google, Microsoft, Apple, Samsung, even Nokia. But if im showing up as a kid, ain't much I can do with that future knowledge, at least at first.

*Blinks* Many people abuse children because they were abused themselves or had a very traumatic experience. Beating up her dad would be more likely to cause the abuse than prevent it. In that scenario, I'd leave him some notes guiding him to a better path. Quotes from ancient philosophers, self-help books, religious texts, whatever I thought would help him most, I'd leave in prominent places he frequents, at his favorite table at his favorite restaurant, telephone poles he passes on his way to work, stuff like that.

Regressed or go back in time?
Cause going back 30 years might mean nonexistence?

30 years? I'd have just joined the online community where I would meet my then-future wife in a few months. Probably would just make the same mistakes I made back then, but take more time doing it and feel guiltier.

Also, to actually answer the question. I mean I’d be two and would permanently lose my wife and daughter because perfectly reproducing my old life would be impossible, but there are *some* positives. I’d cry for an extended period first, since controversially I like my life despite being deep in debt with a degree that has never benefited me.

Thankfully I have a dad who is sufficiently chill that if I spoke to him honestly and with the vocabulary of an adult he’d probably end up workshopping next steps with me, including providing an explanation to my mom who would absolutely freak out. I am not the most financebro person but I could workshop some insider trading with him, not that that will be the highest priority.

I’d keep an eye out so I can buy bitcoin when it’s still a weird fringe thing I could buy a dozen of for like 100 bucks. I’d do so because it’s the best way I can come up with to get crazy rich somewhat anonymously, by the way, since who owns Bitcoin is somewhat less publicly available information than stocks especially if I make the purchase with an anonymous account. I want to live as “normal but comfortable” a life as I can manage.

I’d spend a lot of my spare time working on my book, since that’s one of the few jobs that I could plausibly do in a child’s body with an adult mind and it’s something I just decided to do irl. It would hurt to not have my wife acting as an informal editor/beta reader, of course, but unless I had some meaningful evidence this was reversible I would need to figure out how to make peace with that.

I’d also play a lot of older video games, since that’s something I already do.

Okay. 1995...are we assuming a multiverse timeline where we can alter the past? How do we get over entropy from information changing the past? Will our essence or mental template carry over?

Not be so naive and start having lesbian flings with every girl at the all-girls school Ai-chan attended. Well technically 30 years ago Ai-chan would be in grade school, and the all-girls school would be like over 5 years later. BUT! Plans have to be made. Knowledge must be learned beforehand. And also have aunt start investing in stocks in 1999 with Ai-chan's angpow money.

My story has 2 protagonist's and neither of them are older than 30

If Felix went to the past, he would try to avoid his toddler self being sold into slavery.

If KuliKuli went into the past, she definitely would warn her Aunt and Mum about the kind old man who's interested in old artifacts and monsters. Bonus, she would likely yell at her father to either stay or refuse being hired by a seemingly humble religious old man.

But for me, myself, and I? I'm not 30 x) but I would go back to my child self and give her therapy and pointers to boost her confidence and tell her it's okay.

Do the things that Manhua protagonists do, since 99% of all Manhuas, regardless of Genre, all include Regression. Koreans are the most regretful and perfectionist people in the world. They constantly dream about that second shot.

Since I read like hundreds of Manhua without a single one that WASN'T about regression, I'll probably check out your story. It's a slop genre, but I can't get enough.
