I think there's a spectrum between criticizing someone's work and criticizing someone doing the work. In my view, there are differences between "I think this book is horrible and here's why" vs "This book is horrible" vs "Your work is horrible" vs "You're horrible." A writer might have trouble...

I think it'd depend on the content too? 1 and 2 look more upbeat, sort of like a page I'd find on a magazine. I only voted 3 because it had the easiest title to read. (Unless...it wasn't the title...)

To be honest, I really can't read a story very far when I can't understand what's motivating the characters. I want to understand them, even if they're twisted or chaotic! And sometimes the protagonist's motive will literally be to stop the antagonist from destroying the world or something, but...

"Light vs dark" theme! Especially when they're explored a bit more thoroughly.

I've read a story where I wanted the villain to win, and they didn't. The main character was a typical no-background-no-story character that went about preaching childlike justice. The villain had a whole backstory dedicated to them, and they had a clear purpose for trying to destroy the world...

If I get to keep all my knowledge of the verse, then that's already a really broken power (omniscience), and a total takeover is probably doable without anything else. I just need to go to the right places, say the right words, do the right things, and...ta-dah, mission complete.
