In Misadventures Incorporated, the main character uses whatever happens to be on hand, including chairs, bones, candle holders, random animal parts, etc. It takes over a hundred and fifty chapters for her to finally settle on an iguana.

Not a novel, but this is basically the plot of Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Dude thinks that irl fights are RPG fights and you need to take turns.
