I think that actually makes the character seem a little more real. Though the average person doesn't commit murder. It makes that character seem less like a perfect goddess- or something.

You do bring up an interesting point, and while not everyone who reads books like these are necessarily bad people, It makes sense that they can also have a very obsessive and toxic fandom... and honestly these people sound terrible.
