What do you do to promote your story?

Nothing aside from just releasing chapters often. Sometimes I write at a fast pace and finish two chapters in a day (~4k to 5k words). Then I space out the releases so my views in a single day spike and I have a decent shot of making the first page of trending, which I've noticed further raises...

GoogleDocs writers - how to organise story chapters?

I write every chapter in its own Google Docs file. Even my notes got really long two weeks ago, so I had to divide it into one doc for character notes and one doc for plot + setting. I'll probably have to divide the latter soon as well. edit: also i voted for the wrong option in the poll lmao

What type of music do you listen to while you write?

And do you change the music you listen to depending on what you're writing, or do you prefer no music at all? For me, regardless of whether the scene I'm writing is happy or sad, exciting or slow, I listen to rap songs and sad pop songs. Rap songs give me that burst of motivation from hearing...

Writing How to make dialogues sound natural?

Some examples off the top of my head that I use are sentence length and profanity. Some people like speaking in long sentences, while others prefer to keep their sentences short. Some people litter their sentences with profanity even when they aren't angry, while others can hardly say more than...

Writing Tell Me About Your Villains

One of my favorite videos on antagonists is by Lessons from the Screenplay. It really breaks down the elements of what makes a good antagonist. One part of it that's been most ingrained in my mind is the idea that a great villain is only great because of their interactions with the protagonist...

Why? What makes you want to write? What is your "Writer's Creed"?

I write because I can't escape from fiction. I finish reading a story and can't get out of my head ideas to riff on it. "What if he's not a gambler, but an alcoholic? What if the world is less dark and full of horror and crime and the story focuses on the political and economic implications of...

    How long should chapters be?

They tend to range from 1,000 to 2,000 words, but I've seen one popular story (Rupegia) with a 7,400 average word count. So it varies. Edit: Pick whatever word count you feel comfortable with. Some people feel comfortable writing endings at 1k words. Others at 2k.

How long does it take for you to write a chapter? And edit it?

I spent an entire day writing and reviewing/editing one 2,000-word chapter on my story for about the first week and a half. I was very careful about avoiding plot holes and inconsistencies. Then I just went crazy in the last few days. Sometimes I manage to get two chapters/4k words done & edited...
