I mean, a mix of both? Rarely does anyone have beliefs shaped purely by their own conviction or by someone else's molding. It's usually a mix of the two, and its hard for me to tell what I think truly is my own original beliefs, or brought on by judging other's opinions and fact.
So shorten the sentences and fix up some past tense usage. Honestly, I've never heard or read the word "strode" before, so I wasn't even aware that was the past tense of stride.

I rammed my foot against a protruding nail and tore off a large chunk of skin. I wouldn't call it exciting news, but it is painful news, and pain is a form of excitement, I guess. To some weird people.
Scriptwriter, although I would merely give suggestions or edit certain dialogue or scenes if the need arises. I can write some decent stories, but writing for a book compared to a TV screen is an entirely different ballgame so I'd try and keep it to the professionals as much as possible.
