I write depending on the site and demand of the plot. I have written 20K words to 500 words.

I also post on Tapas and they limit their chapter to 1,500 words, so usually I aim for 1,000-1,500

A chapter should be exactly as long as it needs to be. If it needs to be 500 words, make it 500 words. If it needs to be 10,000 words...
