BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Okay, after some research, I've learned why she hissed, for those who are curious. She's either being aggressive, threatened, or has anxiety. I just googled why otters hiss, and was not disappointed by the results.

Or you're in our nesting ground in the water. Did you know we kill more people every year than sharks? *^^*

Despite their reputation fatal shark attacks are very rare. I think there is something around four recorded fatal shark attacks in a year worldwide on average? Cattle kills far, far more people each year. Isn't that right, @JayMark ?

Well, the real number is probably a bit higher than that, considering people go missing in the ocean a lot, and some third world countries don't report every shark attack. But yeah, they actually don't like the taste of humans. They just bite us when we manage to tick them off or look like seals/turtles. And I mean, who can blame them for getting us mixed up?

Eh, kinda sorta. While blood does send sharks into a frenzy, most species will go out of their way to avoid humans once they realize what we are. They even did a whole study, dropped blood in the water, started a feeding frenzy, and tossed a diver in. The sharks bumped him aggressively, but once they realized he was human, they left him alone (we must really taste bad!). The most dangerous aspect of a shark bite isn't the frenzy that comes after, it's the bacterial infection that comes off the sharks tooth. If possible, always a good idea to get a tooth off the shark that bit you. One, so doctors can make a proper disinfectant for the wound. Two, because saying "I got bit by a shark and stole its tooth" Is a pretty sick thing to be able to say.

Yes! I remember seeing this factoid on a police program. Cattle kill about 48 people a year. We must all watch our step around @JayMark

She backs away warily and dives into the ocean.
