Hello and hi!

For those of you who have visited the SH Discord server for the past year, you will likely recognise me. For those who have not, I have been a moderator in that place for about a year now.
And for around the same amount of time, I have been poked about things happening on these forums. More so recently, and I could do nothing about it.
Which is why I decided to simply ask Tony to make me a moderator here, too.
That said, don't expect me to be heavily involved in Forum life. I am here just to resolve annoying things that get brought up to me while I try to relax and chat.
So!
If you have something that needs a moderator's attention here, you most likely will have to ping me on Discord (same name there). I am usually easy to reach throughout the day (EU time).
Now. Go back to the usual... whatever it might be.

Imo, thats how most mods start out - by getting involved in community.

Yeah, well. Thats how it normally should be, I agree.
Its just that this was the easiest way to get a new mod since I had done it on the Discord side for a while.
(And i got annoyed.)

Honestly, if there was a clamour for an additional mod the Forum community could agree upon, I think that could be arranged quite easily as well.

Only a forum mod. Granted, I haven't inquired about Site moderation rights. Last I heard (and it was a long time ago) Tony was rather cagy about those.

I will give you a hint. They published a 'popular' book about a lesbian cyberpunk who was trying to rescue her sister, which was only popular on RR. It flopped on Amazon and, I believe, here. The fact that she was a lesbian wasn't the problem; the fact that it was an opinionated, hateful, bigoted, political, insulting, and disjointed mess was, like many 'alternative' works that rely on politics rather than a decent story.

And mysteriously, everyone who posted less than a 4-star glowing review got banned over two days. I watched the reviews disappear. And the book was removed here because it was unpopular, and the author couldn't tolerate negative opinions, but bad reviews didn't get the reviewers banned here. That STRONGLY implies that the writer was connected to a certain moderator who was 'pushing' their work to artificial popularity. Or perhaps the writer was a moderator. And, ironically, the author 'warned me' in PMs to take down my 2 star review or they would 'take action'.

Now, I admit I have some unpopular opinions that I occasionally share on the forums, for example, disdain for fiction writers that clearly don't READ good fiction and refuse to admit that their work suffers as a result, and sometimes the disagreements get heated. (especially about AI writing and certain sexual themes involving children that are supposedly 'ancient' and yet are clearly still children). But I keep the disagreements restrained to the works, not personal.

But I have never gotten banned or even warned.

I hope that doesn't change. I am not on the forums often, since it cuts into writing time, but I do, occasionally, look for advice from other writers (Steven king's book of writing advice mostly only works for steven king) and I sometimes share my own advice or disagree with other advice based on my experiences.
