Do you use swears in your fantasy?

Sometimes there really is no better way to express how a character feels in the moment than an Fbomb, but maybe that's due to my poor vocabulary, still I do try to use them sparingly or try to come up with world appropriate ones... but those usually sound cheesy to me when I'm the one writing them down.
How do you guys deal with it? do you try to stay away from it as much as possible? freely use it whenever you want? Do you come up with your own that fit your world?

I'd love to see some examples of fun made up swears or idioms if you have any too.

I use them freely whenever they call to me:biggrin_s:
But I had some stories that I had to make, such as swears or praises in other worlds. It is pretty daunting. But I managed, I think.
But I would also like to read what fun made-up swears or idioms others use.

I think that sometime it's difficult to write without swear words. The funny thing is that I don't even swear in real life, but more often than not, my characters experience struggles that are impossible for me to go through. And sometimes the situation calls for a stronger word. I also agree with you in that appropriate words sound cheesy. I think going without swears is something you just have to train yourself to do

I use both the English cusswords and then make up a bunch that are usually lore based. It really all depends on the character.

I think my favorite was the derogatory names I had for Faeries born outside the Fae Realm. Iron Elves which was insulting. Then it went a step further and Slag Elf or just Slag. Which is even funnier if you're British (or are familiar with offensive British terms).

I do use swearing, or other saying, if it fits the characters or the situation calls for it.

Some of my favorites are:
-Yank my beard (Dwarven's Fuck me in the ass)
-Shave my head (Same as above)
-Go and polish your own horns, lizard ('Go fuck yourself, Dragonborn)
-Piss-drinker (Degoratory term for non-dwarf)
-Wrong nuts and bolts (A tinkerer's variation of 'Wrong hole'. She wasn't amused.)
-Devil's burning anus.

These usually end up being my top three when a character is really trying to get his point across lol.
I mean, one syllabus curse is often the best.

Straight forward and short.

Because saying "I will consummate with your mother" is a mouthful.

Ps. C*ck/ d*ck also counts, but somehow lacking impact of c*nt.

One of my favorite parts of building a world is coming up with new swear words for them to use. in Juryokine I had them say "smite." That's probably my favorite because of how versatile it was. "Smite you! Don't you smiting dare! Oh, smite!"

In The Gray Ranger, they used "d'yargo." The lore behind it was, thousands of years ago a sorcerer named D'yargo tried to take over the world while talking a lot of trash about how much their god, Embin, sucked compared to him, so Embin came down from heaven and no-diffed him. And to rub salt in the wound, he cursed D'yargo (who was an attention loving diva) so that his name would never be forgotten, but it would pretty much be synonymous with "shit."

I hate to say... but this comment seems to be much more showing of someone who needs to go touch grass.
It's fine for people to avoid swearing, it doesn't affect you, so don't get so pressed about it.

I was raised in a Christian household, still adhere to Christianity, still touching grass and I still swear.

Yes, I'm still human.

My characters swear, but not often. It would be out of character if they did it often, but infrequent use can add emphasis to dire situations.

You do what's best for your story, but I believe that using swears in the story feels quite off if you are telling a fantasy story.
Its best not to overdo it. Just keep the story as civil as possible. Words such as "damn" or "arse" are common if read in a story.

Depends on the situation. If I would swear IRL, than I insert it. If not, then not. Simple right?
