Imagine starting a new book with full motivation and you are getting a pretty decent starter support but then suddenly some nobodies, disgrace on universe, stain on the bedsheets, rat hole suddenly gives you a ONE star rating for no reason, without even reading the synopsis.... Coz they like it....

I swear if I was in a squid game with the dude/dudi that gave me 1 star without an explanation?

Really? Dude, I get wanting to vent sometimes, but you wanting to "kill" someone in the squid games all because you got a one star rating on your book? Jeez, maybe you should leave the Internet if getting a single one-star makes you this frustrated, earned or not. Cause I got bad news for you, this isn't the last time you'll be getting a one star rating on you work.

My condolences? Maybe you can ask them why? Their profile shows that your novel is the only one they've read. They might have accidentally given it a one-star rating. By the way, I gave you five stars! Hope your novel does really well!

You have to get used to it.

You can vent about it, but you can't get too hooked up on it. The more readers you get the more frequent it will be. After a certain point, you will get them just out of spite because you are more successful than they are.

It is human nature.

I was just expressing my frustration but I don't really intend to kill anyone but still its very frustrating but still its not much but still its very frustrating to get that after writing 6000+ words per week but still I don't care that much but still its very frustrating

Yeah but... There's no YouTube vid without a dislike. I really think it's just there's always someone who can't help but taint a rating. Aside from the usual tag hater 1* rater.

Sad thing is, you can't force it out of them. Readers will be readers; some will be assholes, others will be nice. Depends on your luck.

But yeah, if I may say, you might've attracted some peeps that got irked by the way you promoted your work, which is kinda forceful.

Just post and do some normal advertising, never asking users what they think of your work when they clearly don't like to say anything. If you really want readers to come, they will come as long as you are consistent with your updates.

If you want feedback, just post in the feedbacks thread. Yes, you can't also force someone to give feedbacks, but at least, you might attract peeps who do.

Yep, that’s how it is. People online don’t think about the amount of work that went in behind it to give them this stuff for free.

I used to push out around 25k words worth a day, always trying to do my best. To them though, it was as easy as hitting a like or dislike button.

The way I think about is that. If they wanna read something they like, they can always just write it. However, I will continue on doing what I do.

Part of the process is getting yourself out there, some people won’t like it, so that will in time cause them to hate on your stuff.

Anyway, just keep writing. You will build slowly, but in time you will gather a following. Just hope it is not like mine, and they are just silent.

I got a troll review from an alt account because of something I said on the forums. These people just exist on the internet. The only thing you can hope is that water spills on their keyboard. Or just become more successful and start getting paid to write stories. The best revenge is succeeding through your hard work.

But yes, all you can do is try to succeed. Especially since 2024 has brought out some of the worst set of people. Nothing can be done about it, but you can continue to try which would be great to piss em off.
